TamPogo Talk

Keeping a Starving Heart Beating

June 15, 2010

Three days and counting until marvelous May ends.  Activity is brisk working toward another record month on all fronts.  You people are truly amazing and I am fortunate and proud to be a small part of your big effort. I woke up this morning thinking of three quotes that might be relevant going into the weekend.

The first was from Mark Twain.  I think it describes very well why TamPogo is growing to be such a phenomenon and such a huge success.  Twain said, ”Keep away from people who belittle your ambitions.  Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

That is so true.  I am sure that you, like I, come across people each and every day who belittle you and think that what you do here, or elsewhere, is foolish.  I think they would change their tune fast if we were able to rapidly transport them (a la Scrooge in The Christmas Carole) to the poorest regions of Central America or Southeast Asia and see the children thriving due to the life saving food that your efforts put in their mouths.  But they know it all, of course, and as a result it’s so easy to diminish you.

The greatest basketball coach of all time, John Wooden, said, ”It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.”  Unfortunately, so many people that could benefit from TamPogo and who could help the cause, have actually STOPPED learning and eventually become the reason that it’s so hard to create change in the world.

The key to overcoming this is to simply speed by them and accelerate your efforts elsewhere, even faster.  Mario Andretti was an incredible racer and a great team builder.  He said, ”If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.”  And this final third quote is the one I want to leave you with as we go into Memorial Day weekend.

You need to take time this weekend to honor those who fought for our freedom and worked with such courage to change the world.  And you need to share some wonderful moments with good friends and your family.  And finally, you need to speed on by all the obstacles that you “think” are in your path and move even faster toward your goals.

You have some fantastic bonuses to qualify for in the final three days.  You have some fantastic bonuses to stay qualified for in the last three days.  And you have some fantastic bonuses to work toward in the last three days of May.

If you think you’ve done enough and there is still time left, then you need to do more.  You have heard me, time and time again, say that.  Despite the masses behavior to the opposite, the time to work the hardest is when things are going the best.  I would be most proud if all of you reading this worked 20% harder than you did last month at this time.  Make those extra few calls or write those extra few e-mails.

We have two new products in the store now to help you tell the TamPogo story.  Passion 4 Life is a 30 ounce liquid vitamin and mineral supplement.  And Formula Z-Slim is a powerful, pure GABA powder from Pure Chemistry.

These products work.

Let’s all dig down deep and enjoy the process of putting a dent in universal starvation.  And again, thank you, for your effort and the efforts of the great teams out there.  There will be millions of picnics and clam bakes throughout the US this weekend.  And while those events will be so important and such a source of joy, especially for the youngest in our midst; remember please, you are participating in even more important feeding celebrations – those that actually keep the hearts beating of the youngest kids and the shovels out of parents hands who you will likely never meet.

And follow me in this simple kind of thinking, please, if you can.  This weekend when I think I have worked hard enough, I am going to think as a parent, and imagine the REAL hard job, that of a parent having no options but watching his family starve and knowing that he was going to have to dig a hole with his hands before the weekend was out.  If that REALITY does not make me reach down and do even more, then you amazing people don’t have a leader worth following.

I promise you that I will do my small part to the best of my ability.  Thank you all for delivering one miracle after another.  I am truly humbled by your passion and by your performance.  You are entitled to feel great.

Dear iRep,

As you are aware, TamPogo is continuing to accelerate and is experiencing incredible growth.  From a practical standpoint that means that there are a great many new eyes on our company e-mails.  From time to time it seems practical to recycle some of the important messages that we have previously relayed to people who are a longer part of our history.  Given the fact that this is a relatively slow Sunday at TamPogo, I thought that...
